Arriving Hakodate at 10 AM by shinkansen, I rushed walking to hotel near Hakodate JR Station. Thanks to the hotel staff because he was letting me to early check in.
I felt not in Japan because there are a lot of Old Western-style buildings in Hakodate and tram is main public transportation besides buses. I love to visit old city and visiting heritage buldings, learning about history and culture are my passion. I prepared myself to walking a whole day.. to explore Hakodate in 24 hours.
Firstly, I visited Hakodate Morning Market for light meal. Hakodate famous for fresh seafood, especially squid. I tried ikesu ika, fresh squid sashimi. I catched squid by myself and their preparing ikesu ika front on me. I little bit feeling guilty but gocchisou sama deshita 🙏
Walking up to the hills, Moto-zaka slope, Hachiman-zaka slope and other slopes was need so much energy, so I prepared myself with some snacks from an old bakery near Jiujigai Tram station.
My favorite spot
When bought tram day ticket at Tourist Information, they gave me a brochure about Snow Monkeys bathing in Yunokawa Botanical Garden. I went there but a little bit dissapointed because its a man made pool, not made by nature. Walking around 20 minutes to got there and I watched the monkeys only 10 minutes.

I visited Goryokaku Tower. The star-shaped on the grounds of Goryokaku Fort, one important heritage and historical spot.

Visiting Mount Hakodate is a must, the top 3 night view in Japan and was awarded three stars by Michelin. Its different with others because I saw the bay frlom the top, the view was amazing great. I was thankful because the weather was perfect. mount hakodate
Top 3 Japan Night View
Hakodate Bay area is one the main attraction in Hakodate. I was there at 6 PM and shop closed at 7 PM, They closed too early 😥. Kanemori Youbutsu-kan ( Kanemori Red Bricks Warehouse ) one of the symbol of Hakodate Bay area. I couldn't sleep thaty nighyt, I woke up 5:30 AM then back to Hakodate Bay hahaha... Morning view was different with night view. For me, night view was elegant, romantic and gorgeous. Morning view was more mysterious and a little bit spooky because a lot of crows bird around there. I love both morning and night view.
