Macaron? Not me! I’m someone who isn’t a sweet tooth. Sugar is not normally my friend. But thanks to the couple Maylynn and Hugh are the ‘masterchef’ of La Belle Miette, I fell in love with Macaron in Melbourne.

La Belle Miette is a small French patisserie, specialty, gluten-free macarons are one of Australia’s finest, known for its signature crumbly, smooth-textured meringue shells. Each macaron is handmade using of pure and exquisite ingredients.

La Belle Miette is located in the heart of the city, but once inside you feel like you’re in France. The decor looks like it’s been taken straight out of a french illustration book. An touch of elegant pastel interior and a colourful of macarons selections lean on a marble bench welcome you when you step into La Belle

Colorful Macarons

And here, we’re enjoying our macarons and tea

A lovely rose macaron which was made with a rose petal oil which gave it a strong and pure flavour and the smell of rose was so good.

The violet and blueberry was the most interesting flavour combination. The creamy vanilla and fruity blueberry.

Their best-seller, the salted caramel, a hand-harvested salt, and really smooth butter. A smooth caramel ganache with that slight hint of salt. The biscuit was hard on the outside but super soft and chewy all over on the inside, and the ganache had the right amount of silkiness and creaminess.

BRIGHT CHARM OF THE BRIGHTON BATHING BOXES

"Changing on the beach was not permitted, nor could you wander the streets clad only in a bathing costume. One solution was to have a private bathing box,"
The Lure of the Beach, by Jo Jenkinson, Brighton Historical Society.

For those who like beach and photography must visit BRIGHTON BATHING BOXESWith spotless sand, views of the city and with the backdrop of the Victorian-era bathing boxes. These 82 distinctive multi-colored beach huts line the shores of one of Melbournes are an easily recognisable attraction making it the perfect photo opportunity for travellers.

The Brighton Bathing Boxes do have a lot of history behind them. In fact, they were built more than 100 years ago.Colourful huts were set up so ladies could change into their swimwear in privacy, and they still retain their charm and classic architectural features to this very day. Made out of timber, weatherboards, and with corrugated iron roofs, they are a pretty edition to the sea views. They haven’t been changed from their original design when they were built in the early 1900s making them an ever-distinctive attraction that perfectly aligns with the Australian beach culture. In keeping with their century-old history, the boxes don’t have running water or electricity, keeping them a part of the city’s past.
Along with this, those who own the boxes must follow a list of regulations to maintain the heritage of the box. These include not being able to sleep in them or use them for advertising purposes. They are also not to be rented out to others, which means that the bathing boxes stayed in the confines of those who purchased them.

The easiest way to get to get there is to take a train on the Sandringham line, to Middle Brighton Station. The train doesn’t stop at the beach, from the station, it’s about a 1.2km walk to the beach. There are shops, cafes and restaurants along the way, so walking that should be taken in 15 minutes, clould be more than 1 hour with the kids.

A Brief History
Officially opened on 20 March 1878, Queen Victoria Market is an authentic, bustling, inner-city market that has been the heart and soul of Melbourne for 140 years. Also known affectionately as ‘Vic Market’ or ‘Queen Vic’, the Queen Victoria Market has been the heart and soul of Melbourne for more than a century. An historic landmark, a tourist attraction and a local shopping institution. The Market has seen many transformations and has recently been added to the National Heritage List.

Shopping at the Market has always been one of life’s great pleasures. It is not just the abundance of fresh food, the vibrant and multicultural atmosphere, the special events and festivals, and the sense of belonging that comes with it. This bustling market has become a tourist attraction in the city, with many visitors often stopping by this market to eat something fresh or just to shop. Meat, Fish and Dairy Halls, artisan cheeses, dressed meats and takeaway food, or discover the seemingly endless array of seasonal fruit and vegetables showcasing the best of Australian produce.

Honey

I made a list that I got from various sources.

American Doughnut Kitchen, the market’s most iconic food experience: hot jam doughnuts. American Doughnut Kitchen is balls of raspberry jam-filled, sugar-dusted fried dough, cooked to order and served warm.

Borek (shop 95, Deli Hall) savory Turkish pastry pastries filled with cheese and spinach, potato & vegetables, or spicy lamb.

Warm Spinach and Cheese

The Bratwurst Shop & Co ( shop 99-100, Deli hall) which offers a selection of European-inspired grilled sausages (bratwurst, spicy bratwurst, cheese-filled bratwurst, weisswurst, chorizo). Choose a sausage – Cheese Bratwurst ( the kids love it ). Then top it up with one of their ten sauces.

Local farmers and vegetable growers often come here to sell fresh produce, homemade food items, gourmet dishes and herbal goods.

Chocolate & Candies
Top to Bottom: Fig - Champagne Grapes - Tazmanian Cherry

Explore the Market's sheds to grab a bargain or find a Melbourne-made clothing, jewellery, handcrafts, homewares and souvenirs.

During the summer months (November to February) there is a Night Market which runs on Wednesday evenings. The Night Market attracts thousands of visitors every Wednesday evening who come to buy global street food, vintage clothing and artisan products and to listen to live music and entertainment. There are a number of bars where many come to relax in the city during the warm summer nights. The Market also offers a historic venue space with a range of indoor and outdoor spaces.

KAWS: COMPANIONSHIP IN THE AGE OF LONELINESS

KAWS: Gone 2019

Date: September 20, 2019, to April 13, 2020

Brian Donnelly aka KAWS was born in  1974 in New Jersey and started out as a graffiti and street artist. KAWS draws on the complexities of modern life and the contemporary built environment, and contrasts this with the aesthetics of pop and street culture.

This exhibition at the NGV features paintings, sculptures, graphic design, and product design, covering the full spectrum of the creative output. I was lucky to be able to enjoy Brian Donnelly's artwork. I got the message by Brian through KAWS, simple, cool and some have a sense of humor. I was familiar with some my favorite characters like The Simpsons, Astro Boy, Star Wars, Spongebob, and many more.

The PLAYTIME exhibition area designed especially for children. The activity of playing with letters and spelling new words is the two rolled into one. Children can take their kit home and display proudly in their room.
